UMass Amherst named ITE Outstanding Student Chapter for 3rd Consecutive Year
Submitted August 12th, 2011

The Massachusetts Amherst Student Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) has been selected to receive the 2011 International Outstanding Student Chapter Award. The group has worked hard and it shows as this is the 3rd consecutive year the group has been selected. Nine students attended the ITE Award event last year in Vancouver, BC. This year Steven Tupper, past UMass Amherst Student Chapter ITE President, and several other ITE student members will be traveling to accept the ITE Award in St. Louis. The Chapter consists of 45 members with a core group of 30 dedicated and enthusiastic members. The group is very active year round, as the 2010-2011 Annual Report confirms. Among their many accomplishments last year the Chapter worked with Womem's Transportation Seminar group to establish the first WTS group in the region. The group regularly attends meetings and conferences, participates in field trips, professional development and outreach.
