March 2002 News
The YPG plans to meet at the upcoming CT ITE/NEITE meeting on April 2, 2002 in Cromwell, Connecticut. We'll discuss the Job Shadow program, including ways to expand the program beyond Massachusetts, where we have concentrated our efforts thus far. We hope to offer the program again in the fall and reach more schools, such as the University of New Hampshire and the University of Connecticut. The YPG will also meet on April 9 at UMass Amherst. About 25 people have subscribed to our mail list!
February 2002 News
The New England Section Young Professionals Group has been meeting regularly since last fall. Our main goal is providing an environment for young members to take an active role in ITE and the transportation profession. To that end, YPG members develop and run their own projects, meetings and other activities. These projects and activities provide an opportunity for the YPG members to develop job skills and build relationships, which will help them throughout their career.
We met at the September and December NEITE meetings last year, and plan to meet at each of the NEITE meetings this year. Our current focus is a Job Shadow Project, which will involve mentoring a college student for a day, to introduce them to transportation engineering in the workplace. Contact John Mirabito to find out more and get involved!
There are many things the YPG can do, but we need your ideas and participation! Please let us know what you would like the YPG to do, and what would attract you to a meeting. Are you interested in training courses, technical tours, social activities or something else? If you have not yet been to a YPG meeting, tell us what it will take to get you to attend one. If you have been attending our meetings spread the word, and invite your co-workers and associates to a meeting. Finally, please join our email list to stay updated!
