About the Section

The New England Section of ITE serves over 770 members, with the following Chapters:

Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont
Massachusetts
Connecticut
University of Massachusetts at Amherst
University of Massachusetts at Lowell
Northeastern University
University of Rhode Island

In May 2004, the membership breakdown was as follows:

• Connecticut: 138 voting members, 13 non-voting members
• Maine: 40 voting members, 8 non-voting members
• Massachusetts: 322 voting members, 56 non-voting members
• Vermont: 43 voting members, 7 non-voting members
• New Hampshire: 62 voting members, 10 non-voting members
• Other: 54 voting members, 19 non-voting members

NEITE holds five dinner meetings each year and at least five Executive Board meetings, to discuss business associated with NEITE, District and ITE International activities, along with various committee reports. Individual committees, such as the Young Professionals Group, the Awards Committee and the Technical Committee set their own meeting schedules.

The Section provides at least three formal educational opportunities for its members of all experience levels annually. Additional meetings and technical sessions are held throughout the year, typically focusing on projects around New England. Section and Chapter meetings also provide a location for our members and colleagues to network with other transportation professionals. The Section recently established the Desjardins Memorial Scholarship Fund for students pursuing undergraduate degrees in transportation-related fields.

A dinner social, held in December, has become the Section's annual social function and provides a setting to install officers and directors. The Section's four annual awards are also presented at this occasion.
