Abstract Detail

|
The current availability of Automatically Collected Data will
enhance the ability of transit agencies to obtain more useful
information that is previously too expensive. Developing an
algorithm of Bus Passenger Trip OD Estimation based on
Automatically Collected Data can achieve more accurate result,
and do so more quickly and more efficiently. Obtaining bus OD
for Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) involves the combination of
multiple sources of data, namely farecard data (AFC), Automatic
Passenger Count (APC) data, and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL)
data. The proposed approach is to obtain a seed matrix based
primarily on AFC data, and then apply either Iterative Proportional
Fitting (IPF) or Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) to achieve
full bus OD matrix.
