| Traffic sign is a kind of road safety appurtenances. Rational sign installation is benefit to road safety. Meanwhile it is a kind of obstacles on roadside and it is a potential endanger to the run-off-road vehicles. This paper introduces the concept of clear-zone and the aspects of roadside. Considerations and measures of sign installation are also presented concerned the roadside safety on satisfied the visibility. First, traffic signs should be installed on the site where the vehicles are not prone to run off the road. Second, sign poles can use breakaway supports or shielded with a longitudinal barrier or delineated with retro-reflective materials if within the clear zone. |
